Lee,

I have a great story for you!

My daughter was taking Aikido last spring.  Recently at her school a couple of grade 7 boys have been harassing some of the girls.  Before Christmas my daughter was standing at her open locker.  She could see one of these boys approaching her in a little mirror attached.  Just as she was turning around she realized the boy was very close to grabbing her body in a very inappropriate place.  She grabbed his hand and as she said "I moved his hand back like how I learned in Aikido - there are pressure points all along the hands and wrists".   She demonstrated what she did and it looked very quick, rather painful and very effective.  She said the boy took off scared and when she saw him later he ran away from her again!!  I can't tell you how happy I was to know she was able to defend herself like this.  It is so empowering for girls!

"One day at school, during recess, my friends and I were talking-minding our own business when suddenly a classmate tried to push me so she could get included but I wouldn't move. She pushed me again but unexpectedly, I threw her (using her pushing force) then she fell. Everyone laughed but I couldn't helped but apologized. My friends kept asking me how did I do that but I smiled and told them to join in Aikido training..."
