How much does it cost?
Our pricing is on par with Yoga and dance classes in the area. Please contact the Dojocho for pricing details.
Discounts are available for students and membership pricing is based on the number of people joining per family.
There is also a per class rate available.
The first 3 gradings are at no charge.

What is your class schedule?
Adult: Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Adult: Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Children: Monday and Wednesday from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM
What is the focus of the art you teach?
Yoshinkan Aikido focuses on practical self-defence and personal development. It is not a sport and there are no competitions. The curriculum teaches safe falling, entering, blending, joint locks, throws, pins and much more.
Why should I train with Grand River Aikido?
Simply put you will benefit from the training. Learning to fall safely on its own is a huge advantage. Couple that with the effective techniques that Yoshinkan Aikido offers and you have a winning combination for personal protection and development.

What kind of people benefit from Aikido?
Aikido offers something for everyone. Our students are a mix of various professionals like Fire Fighters, School Teachers, Golf Instructors, Department Managers, Entrepreneurs etc. Children and middle aged adults seem to take to Aikido easily. A visit to any Aikido dojo will show students from 6 to 60+ It truly is a Martial Art for all.
Do you have any openings?
Yes. We currently have openings in all classes.
Do you require sparring?
Yoshinkan Aikido has no sparring, as there are no competitions. This does not mean that the training is boring or lacks challenge. Unlike sports, Yoshinkan Aikido is focused on self-defence. We use two methods to practice techniques: both utilize a partner. This is done in both a step by step manner and as a flowing faster movement. You will get a good work-out as well!
Do you offer a trial program?
Yes. We offer 2 introductory classes at no charge. Occasionally, we offer free seminars.
Should I take advantage of the introductory classes?
Absolutely. The best way to see if Yoshinkan Aikido is for you is to watch a class or two and participate as well. The fun is in the doing.
Do you offer any other training?
Yes. We offer Women Only Self-Defence, as well as our mixed class and kids program.
